變與不變有如陰陽互濟,缺一不可。

「BuilttoLast」(中譯:基業長青)是由學者JamsCollins(詹姆斯.克林斯)、JerryI.Porras(傑利.薄樂斯)兩人潛心六年,研究全球重要企業,探討為什麼像奇異、惠普、新力、迪士尼等這些百年企業都能恆久卓越、屹立不搖,而大其他的企業卻只亮麗於一時,從絢爛歸於平凡,本書自1996年出版以來至今,一直廣受商業界推崇並爭相拜讀,轉眼間已經有10年的時間,而這10年雖然世界與市場變化快速,但是,本書卻一直仍受到管理界的尊崇與最為標竿。

本書針對如何在瞬息萬變的商業市場上建立一可長期屹立於市場中的卓越公司,提出了幾點重要觀念,分別是『建立完善的組織架構和流程(管理者應該自我期許做個造鐘師而非報時人)』、『擁護兼容並蓄的融合法』、『保存核心價值同時刺激進步』及『追求持續一貫的協調一致』。

作者藉由從不同領域當中挑選出所謂的『高瞻遠矚』公司,同時比照其競爭對手,研究其相關歷史和商業活動後,歸納統計出這些成功公司所具有的共通特質。

身為人力資源的工作者,在面對成為企業的策略夥伴時,除了要能了解人滋相關專業知識與能力之外,也必須熟析企業經營之道與組織發展的過程,而基業常青這本書剛好是一本非常棒的入門書籍,可以提供人資人員從組織與策略的角度去思考與瀏覽成功企業所必須具備之組織文化與成功領袖、管理人才,這樣才能在未來執行企業的組織佈局時,以更宏觀與策略的角度來協助企業成功的贏得市場激烈的競爭。

我想這本書雖然已經是出版10年的老書,但是,仍然非常值得大家買來好好的閱讀品味,從「他山之石」來學習與成長,是最快也是最便宜的方式,當然也可以讓你知道創立一家長青且屹立不搖的公司所應抱持的態度和想法。
