One of the indispensable professions of urban planner is to plan their neighborhoods, communities, urban and rural areas, metropolitan areas, ...UrbanPlanningOneoftheindispensableprofessionsofurbanplanneristoplantheirneighborhoods,communities,urbanandruralareas,metropolitanareas,regionalandterritorialenvironmentinordertoleadthedevelopmentofcitiestowardmoresustainableways.Since1950,therehasbeenincreasingdemandforurbanplannerswhohavetheabilitytodealwithrapidurbanizationandenvironmentaldevelopment.Therefore,expertsfromTaiwanintheUnitedNationsAssociationstronglyrecommendedthattheestablishmentofDepartmentofUrbanPlanningintheNationalChengKungUniversity.TheundergraduateprogramofDepartmentofUrbanPlanningwasbuildatfirstin1971.TheMasterprogramwasestablishedin1987,aimingatplanninganddesignprofessionaldiversiontofacedifficultchallengesoftheenvironmentplanning,spatialplanninganddesigning.In1994,PhDprogramwasestablished,encouragingpeoplewhoholdaMaster’sdegreeinrelatedfieldssuchasurbanplanning,construction,landadministration,civilengineering,environmental,andsocialsciences,etctoengagein.ThegoalofthedepartmentistobecomethetopplanningdepartmentandtheonlyonewhichprovidescompletedegreeprogramsinTaiwan.Thedepartmentaimstotraintalentsinplanningfieldforurbandevelopmentbyefficientlyallocatinghumanactivitiesovertheurbanandruralareas.Thereareabout50undergraduatestudents,50masterprogramstudentsand6doctoralprogramstudentsenrolledinthedepartmentannually.Thefacultyofthedepartmentconsistsof16full-timeand10part-timefaculties.ThenewdepartmentbuildingwasconstructedinOctober1996.Withinthenewbuilding,therearesufficientspacesforresearches,studenttrainingandalsotheadministrationaffairs,suchastheGISlaboratory,computerlaboratory,andauditorium…etc.Withthemulti-talentedfacultiesandwell-equippedfacilities,thedepartmentprovidesafullenvironmentforstudyingurbanplanning.GotoUrbanPlanningWebsite國立成功大學都市計劃學系Department,ofUrbanPlanningChengKungUniversityFormationoftime:1971yearWebsite:up.ncku.edu.tw
