教材由Hotel Industry（酒店業常識）與Hotel Operation（酒店運營）兩大部分構成。第一部分從宏觀角度介紹酒店行業及職業特點、酒店分類、特色酒店、酒店分級、著名酒店集團、著名酒店管理學院、禮儀與服務、酒店業發展趨勢等酒店相關知識；第二部分從微觀角度介紹酒店內前廳、客房、餐飲、康樂、招聘培訓、市場營銷、安全保衛、處理投訴等運營情況。本教材在構架、內容和選材上，注重點面結合，注意典型性和代表性。在拓寬讀者相關領域專業知識的同時，還增加了酒店常用文體欣賞部分，擬給讀者展現真實的實際應用文體， 從不同側面增強讀者的實際應用能力。在每個單元的最后還設計了一個真實案例，使讀者在閱讀的同時，增加分析問題的能力。為了增加活潑性和趣味性，提高學習興趣，每篇課文都配有與主題相關的精美圖片。王向寧，教授，碩士生導師。 北京第二外國語學院英語專業畢業；后同時獲得旅游管理學院旅游管理專業碩士班同等學歷研修畢業；2002-2003年在美國休斯頓大學希爾頓酒店管理學院擔任高級訪問學者，同時研修”酒店管理專業”和”會展管理專業”。
