本教材以外貿函電磋商能力培養和訓練為核心，從外貿實際工作任務出發，以專案為導向充分展現了對外交易磋商的各個環節，力圖使學生在未來的外貿工作中能結合具體業務情況靈活運用所學知識和技能，融會貫通，從而更好地適應外貿工作的實際需要。
 
全書除首篇介紹了外貿函電的格式和寫作原則外，分別從7個方面分18個任務進行介紹：建立海外業務關係、推銷出口產品和服務、發展海外地區代理、詢盤和答覆、發盤和還盤、合同簽訂、備貨階段的溝通、貨物出運前後溝通、賣方收款、回復客戶貨損索賠、回復客戶品質異議、撰寫理賠信函、詢問產品銷售、給客戶專業的意見、向客戶推薦其他產品、節假日問候、邀請參加展會、其他商務類溝通。每個專案均配有任務描述、任務連結、任務進行、溝通技巧、任務擴展、寫作答疑、交流表達詞彙與短語、技能訓練等，可以幫助學生更好地融入與掌握外貿業務知識和書面磋商技能。
