"Welcome to the World According to Mikey" is a collection of off-beat cartoons that looks at life from a new fresh, different and imaginative perspective. The humor may be lost on a few, but for those who "get it" the read is worthwhile, entertaining, thought provoking, and yes ... very funny It's perfect as a gift, a wonderful addition to your coffee table clutter, and as a functional fulcrum to balance the leg of a wobbly, dining room table. But most importantly, this book provides a skewed take on people, things and situations you hardly even think twice about. Trust me, one trip to Mikey's World and you'll never think about Huck Finn, Batman, and Peter Pan the same way ever again. Volume Two, "Life as a Spectator Sport," is in fact not the second in a series, but the prequel to what will become the third volume in a second trilogy. Mikey's writer, artist, creator and alter ego all-wrapped-up-in-one, said he chose not to name this debut edition, Volume One, to avoid being pretentious and to lower expectations. So if you, a friend, or relative need a quick pick me up, go out and buy a copy today and get in touch with and share your "Inner Mikey." Don't wait for Volume One to be created and published, get Volume Two now

Michael Thomas Houghton is a veteran journalist and international award-winning public relations executive who lives and works in Alexandria, Virginia. Due to a series of illnesses, including Carpal Tunnel, Focal Dystonia, and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, he was forced to abandon his dream of turning his avocation, cartooning, into his vocation. In 2014, he was inspired to pick up his pen again and turn his dream into reality -- no matter the pain or challenge. This book is a labor of love for him and "Mikey" represents his inner free spirit as well as an outlet for his off-the-wall attitudes on life and the human condition. He is a graduate of Suffolk University, where he was awarded the Martin J. Flaherty Award for Excellence in Journalism. A contributing author of several books and a motivational speaker, Houghton is currently working on a non-fiction book and two more volumes of cartoons.
